One defining pillar of BIOTIN is mobility beyond the lab - and this year, that vision came to life through international and intersectoral experiences.
As part of the programme’s secondment activities, BIOTIN fellow Mustafa Titiz completed a two-week intersectoral short visit at Fujifilm VisualSonics Europe in Amsterdam, gaining hands-on exposure to advanced imaging technologies at the interface of academia and industry. Reflecting on the experience, he shared:
“During my short-term research internship at FUJIFILM VisualSonics, Inc., I had the opportunity to explore the capabilities of high-frequency in vivo ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging within preclinical research settings. This experience provided valuable insight into non-invasive visualization of tissue morphology, vascular dynamics, functional changes, and molecular processes in small-animal models.
Beyond technical training, I engaged in discussions on potential project directions, focusing on how advanced imaging platforms can support longitudinal monitoring, early biomarker detection, real-time assessment of therapeutic responses, and neurovascular interaction studies. This internship significantly broadened my methodological expertise and strengthened my ability to integrate cutting-edge imaging technologies into future research projects.”
