Hands-on School on Cell Culture

BiotinTeam

10 Eyl 2025

The next session was at IZTECH IRC on September 9 – 10, and focused on the Hands-on School on Cell Culture, providing an intensive blend of theoretical and practical training in fundamental cell biology and experimental techniques.

Led by Dr. Murat Delman, the program began with a theoretical session introducing the principles of cell culture, covering topics such as aseptic techniques, biosafety practices, cell morphology, and the maintenance of mammalian cell lines. Participants gained a clear understanding of the key concepts underlying cell-based experiments and the critical parameters for reproducible results.

In the practical training sessions, fellows actively engaged in a series of laboratory exercises, including cell thawing, seeding, passaging, counting, and freezing, as well as drug application and MTT assay for cell viability assessment. Each step was designed to provide participants with hands-on experience in standard cell culture workflows and analytical techniques commonly used in biomedical research.

The program concluded with an advanced instrumentation session at IZTECH Center for Life Sciences and Health Technologies (HUGOM), where participants received demonstrations and hands-on training on flow cytometry, cell sorting, fluorescence, and confocal microscopy. These sessions allowed fellows to observe cutting-edge technologies used for cellular analysis and to better understand their applications in translational and diagnostic research.

Overall, the Hands-on School on Cell Culture, conducted under the guidance of Dr. Murat Delman, equipped participants with a comprehensive set of theoretical and experimental competencies, strengthening their foundation in cell-based biotechnology research.
